ABERDEEN, UK – Venture Production (UK) has hit pay with discovery well 110/3b-6A on the Whitbeck Prospect on block 110/3b in the North Sea. The well was drilled to a depth of 5,787 ft (1,764 m) and logged 80 ft (24 m) of net gas pay within a gross gas column of 120 ft (37 m).

The Ormskirk sandstone reservoir was cored and is of good quality, the company reports. Venture has run casing across the reservoir and suspended the well for future use.

According to the company, no drillstem testing was conducted due to the high productivity of the sequence.

“We are delighted with the Whitbeck discovery,” says Miles Newman, exploration director for license partner Reach Exploration. “After further technical work, we hope to return to this well and complete it as a producer for the Whitbeck development.”
