ABERDEEN – Drilling on the Tornado prospect west of Shetland should get under way by the end of this month, according to partner Dana Petroleum. The drillship Stena Carron, currently engaged on appraisal work on Chevron’s nearby Rosebank field, will manage this program.

Dana describes Tornado as a well-defined structural prospect around 20 km (12.4 mi) north of BP’s producing Foinaven and Scheihallion oil fields.

Offshore Norway, Dana will also participate in two forthcoming exploratory wells. Jetta well 25/8-17, will be drilled shortly by the semisub Bredford Dolphin around 7 km (4.3 mi) south east of the Jotun oil field. The second well, set to spud early next month, will be drilled by the Songa Delta on the Trolla 6609/10-2 well in the Norwegian Sea, 45 km (28 mi) east of StatoilHydro’s Norne field.
