Wintershall gets go-ahead for North Sea drilling

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has authorized Wintershall to drill an exploratory well in the North Sea, using the semisub drilling rig Songa Delta.

OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has authorized Wintershall to drill an exploratory well in the North Sea, using the semisub drilling rig Songa Delta.

Well 35/9-7 will be drilled in production license 418, in 377 m (1,237 m) water depth, and around 139 km (86 mi) from the Flesland airport.

Drilling should last 48-60 days, depending upon the results.
