MADRID, Spain –Repsol has no more plans to drill offshore Cuba following its recent failure in the Gulf of Mexico, according to reports from the BBC.

Antonio Brufau, chairman, speaking to investors, said Repsol will not do another well in Cuba following its dry wildcat reported earlier this month. The decision, he said, was made on technical grounds based on the cost of offshore drilling and the failure rate to date offshore Cuba.

That dry will was drilled by theScarabeo 9 rig in waters 50 km (31 mi) off Cuba’s northwest coast.
