ABERDEEN, UK – Red Spider has signed an agreement to supply multiple eREDs for deployment on a DONG Energy rig on Hess’ South Arne field offshore Denmark.
eRED, a technology for remotely operating downhole valves, has completed more than 100 operations to date for more than 20 operators.
For South Arne, the scope of work includes deployment of a shrouded eRED application in the lower completion to provide a fully independent remote method to isolate the flow path in the liner. This should facilitate setting of packers and operating of other hydraulically operated tools in the completion.
A new development is the eRED-FB valve, a full bore tubing-mounted version of eRED. This provides a downhole barrier that can be opened and closed by remote command without posing any restriction to flow.
Hess has ordered eRED-FB for its operations offshore Equatorial Guinea for use as a packer setting device, eliminating the need for well interventions during completion operations.
