Det norske receives rig for North Sea well

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has approved Det norske oljeselskap’s drilling program for a well on the Storebjørn prospect in the North Sea.

TRONDHEIM, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has approved Det norske oljeselskap’s drilling program for a well on the Storebjørn prospect in the North Sea.

The Maersk Guardian has completed work on a sidetrack of the Butch discovery, and is now ready to sail to the Storebjørn location in production license 450, 13 km (8 mi) east of BP’s Ula field.

Drilling should start in mid-January.
