FETCHAM, UK – The jackup Noble Byron Welliver has spudded an appraisal well for Chevron in the Dutch North Sea, according to partner Xtract Energy.

Weather conditions throughout December delayed the rig move to the P2-10 well location.

The well will target an existing gas discovery on the P2 block. One objective is to evaluate potential for commercial hydrocarbon flow from an extended reach horizontal well within the Rotliegendes sandstone reservoir.

Offshore Denmark, a Maersk jackup has also been held up by severe weather on its current assignment for Maersk Oil and Gas.

It should now be released on Jan. 26 to undertake a short tow to the Luna field for drilling operations, where Xtract is again a partner. The program here should last around one month.
