PSA gives go-ahead for two offshore Norway wells

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has authorized two new exploration wells in the Barents Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has authorized two new exploration wells in the Barents Sea.

GDF Suez has consent to use the semisubmersibleTransocean Barents to drill well 7218/8-1 in production license 607. Water depth at the site is 385 m (1,263 ft).

The program could last 47 days, depending on results.

Statoil has permission to use the semisubWest Hercules to drill well 7220/7-3 in PL 532.

Operations could start this month and will last for 41 days. The water depth is 342 m (1,122 ft).
