Multiple objectives reported for Edvard Grieg appraisal well
The semisubmersible Island Innovator has spudded an appraisal well on the southeastern part of the Edvard Grieg field in the Norwegian central North Sea.
According to operator Lundin Petroleum, well 16/1-18 on license PL338 is designed to confirm the geological model at this part of the field to optimize drainage strategy and placement of development wells.
Another goal is to prove additional reserve volumes. The location is around 2.4 km (1.5 mi) east of the Edvard Grieg platform location.
Planned TD is roughly 2,300 m (7,546 ft) below mean sea level. Drilling operations are estimated to last 55 days.
