Another deepwater Angola discovery made

BP has made its fifteenth discovery in block 31 offshore Angola with the Portia discovery 7 km (4 mi) north of Titania and 10.5 km (6.5 mi) southwest of Pluto. Well tests confirmed flow capacity of 5,000 b/d of oil.

LONDON –BP has made its fifteenth discovery in block 31 offshore Angola with the Portia discovery 7 km (4 mi) north of Titania and 10.5 km (6.5 mi) southwest of Pluto. Well tests confirmed flow capacity of 5,000 b/d of oil.

The GlobalSantaFeExplorer drilled the well to a TVD of 5,678 m (18,629 ft) below sea level in 2,012 m (6,601 ft) of water 386 km (240 mi) northwest of Luanda .

Sonangol is the concessionaire. The partners are BP (26.67%), StatoilHydro (13.33), ExxonMobil (25%), Sonangol (20%), Marathon (10%), and Tepa (a subsidiary of the Total Group) (5%).
