Talisman's North Sea wildcat well comes up dry

STAVANGER -- Talisman Energy Norge has concluded drilling of wildcat well 32/2-1 in production license 369. The well, east of the Troll field in the North Sea, proved to be dry, according to the company.

The purpose of the well was to prove petroleum in Upper Jurassic reservoir rocks. Reservoir rocks of medium thickness and satisfactory reservoir quality were encountered in the Upper Jurassic, the company says.

TheTransocean Winner drilled the well in 351 m (1,152 ft) water depth to a vertical depth of 1,274 m (4,180 ft) below the sea surface.

The rig will now proceed to production license 048 in the North Sea to drill appraisal well 15/5-7 where StatoilHydro Petroleum AS is the operator.
