Dragon tests Caspian development well

Dragon Oil PLC has completed initial testing of the development well, Dzheitune (Lam) 22/128, in the Caspian Sea, offshore Turkmenistan.

DUBAI, UAE -- Dragon Oil PLC has completed initial testing of the development well, Dzheitune (Lam) 22/128, in the Caspian Sea, offshore Turkmenistan.

The well was drilled to a depth of 3,848 m (12,625 ft), with testing of the short and long strings resulting in production rates of 1,484 b/d of oil and 1,116 b/d of oil respectively.

Further testing and optimization is scheduled for the next few weeks.

"I am pleased to announce the successful completion and initial testing of the Dzheitune (Lam) A/128 development well which was drilled from the Dzheitune (Lam) 22 platform using the CIS-1 rig. This is the fifth well we have completed this year on schedule," says Hussain Sultan, executive chairman.

Next, the CIS-1 rig is scheduled to spud a development well, Dzheitune (Lam) 22/130. The new well has a target depth of 3,840 m (12,598 ft).
