MELBOURNE, Australia -- The Libra-1 exploration well in exploration permit AC/P41 in the Browse basin, offshore Western Australia, has been suspended due to the presence of a potential oncoming tropical cyclone, according to Nexus Energy.
Over the past week a casing liner was run to just above the zone of interest and the first wireline log suite was recorded over the reservoir section. The logs confirmed the presence of a gross hydrocarbon column of greater than 200 m (656 ft) in a good quality high net to gross reservoir, the company reports. Additional logs are required to determine hydrocarbon composition and will be run once operations resume.
The semisubmersible Ocean Epoch drilled the well to a total depth of 3,929 m (12,890 ft) TVDSS.
