RIO DE JANEIRO -- The 1-BRSA-669-BAS (1-BAS-147) well to the south of the Jequitinhonha basin has hit pay, according to Petrobras. The well proved the presence of hydrocarbons in sandy reservoirs located above the salt layer.
The well discovered arenite reservoirs at a depth of approximately 3,630 m (11,909 ft). The extent of the field and its viability will be assessed at a later time in an Assessment Plan (AP) to be proposed to the National Petroleum Association (NPA), as provided for by the concession agreement, the company says.
