PARIS -- Total has made a new gas and condensate discovery in the Alwyn area of the northern North Sea, close to the Jura field.

The field, named Islay, lies in block 3/15 of the UK sector of the North Sea, 440 km (275 mi) northeast of Aberdeen, in a water depth of 120 m (394 ft). The Total-operated discovery well was drilled to a depth of more than 4,000 m (13,123 ft) into the Brent reservoir. During testing, the well flowed 1.22 MMcm/d of gas or 8,800 boe/d including condensates.

Total plans to connect the new well to the Alwyn facility.
