STOCKHOLM -- The jackup Ensco 85 has spudded a second well on the Didon field in Tunisia, according to PA resources. The horizontal oil producer Didon-9 will be drilled into the western compartment, which is expected to hold recoverable oil.
The Didon-9 well is designed to be a horizontal oil producer in the crestal area of the western compartment on the field. The company's drilling program includes a vertical pilot hole for data acquisition and confirmation of reserves, and a horizontal production drain.
The objectives for the pilot hole are to give a structural control point for the top of the reservoir and to gather information on the reservoir quality, including pressure and saturation profiles, which will provide information on the oil-water contact. The data acquired in the pilot hole will be used to determine the optimal placement of the horizontal production drain.
Upon completion of Didon-9, theEnsco 85 will move on to exploration drilling in the Zarat permit, including the Didon North prospect.
