RIO DE JANEIRO -- Block BM-S-9 in Santos basin has proved the existence of another light oil accumulation, with specific gravity around 28º API, in pre-salt reservoirs, according to Petrobras.
Well 1-BRSA-594-SPS (1-SPS-55), also known as Guará, is located in the smaller area of the block, off the coast of São Paulo in water depths of 2,141 m (7,028 ft). The well is still being drilled in search of deeper prospects, the company says.
The discovery was proved by an oil sample collected via a cable test carried out in reservoirs at 5,000 m (16,404 ft) deep.
After well completion, the consortium will forward an Assessment Plan to the ANP, as provided for in the Concession Agreement.
