STAVANGER, Norway -- StatoilHydro ASA, operator of PL104, has completed drilling of wildcat well 30/9-21 A in the Oseberg South area. The Transocean Winner drilled the well to 90 m (295 ft).
Well results indicate a non-commercial discovery in Upper Jurassic rocks, according to the company. The well was not production-tested, but log data suggests that it encountered small amounts of oil in thin sandstone strata of the Upper Jurassic age. However, the ratio of reservoir rocks in the well was too low for commercializing the discovery, the company says.
The well has been plugged and abandoned.
