OSLO -- CNOOC Africa has awarded Songa Offshore a $30 million contract for a one-well program offshore Equatorial Guinea. The contract will begin after the current drilling campaign in Libya, which is expected to be completed in late 2009.

Before starting the mobilization,Songa Saturn will be upgraded from 3,300 ft to 3,800 ft (1,006 to 1,158 ft) water depth capacity. This work is likely to be carried out in Malta directly after the ongoing campaigns in Libya, the company says.

The contract has demobilization alternatives for both West Africa and Malta.
