NEW ORLEANS -- McMoRan Exploration Co. has logged pay with its Flatrock No. 2 delineation well on OCS 310 at South Marsh Island block 212 in 10 ft (93 m) of water.

The well was drilled to 15,400 ft (4,694 m) and log-while-drilling tools have indicated three resistive zones in the Rob-L section, according to McMoran. These zones will be evaluated with wireline logs. The company plans to deepen the well to a proposed 8,100 ft (2,469 m) TD to evaluate additional targets in the Rob-L and Operc sections.

A third appraisal well, Flatrock No. 3, is drilling towards 18,800 ft (5,730 m) TD and is targeting sands approximately 3,000 ft (914 m) south of the Flatrock discovery well.

First production from Flatrock is expected in 1Q 2008.
