TOKYO -- Total E&P Australia and INPEX Browse Ltd., operator of the WA-344-P joint venture off Australia, have made a new gas discovery from the Mimia-1 well in the Browse basin.
A 72-m (236-ft) gas column was found and a production test confirmed gas and condensate.
Mimia-1 was drilled in 254 m (833 ft) of water approximately 20 km (12½ mi) northeast of the WA-285P (INPEX 76%,Total 24%), which contains the Ichthys gas/condensate field.
Inpex and Total are preparing to develop Ichthys field and are considering how the Mimia discovery could best be incorporated.
INPEX Browse holds 60% interest and Total E&P Australia holds 40% interest.
