Roc Oil reads second Perth basin core

Roc Oil (WA) Pty Ltd.'s Dunsborough-2 appraisal well in WA-286-P, in the Perth basin offshore Western Australia, has recovered a second core.

SYDNEY, Australia -- Roc Oil (WA) Pty Ltd.'s Dunsborough-2 appraisal well in WA-286-P, in the Perth basin offshore Western Australia, has recovered a second core. Both 24-m (79-ft) cores had 100% recovery and good oil shows throughout the 48.6-m (157-ft) total cored interval from 1,515-1,563.5 m (4,970-5,130 ft) below the rotary table.

At the top of the reservoir level Dunsborough-2 is 47 m (154 ft) down structure from Dunsborough-1, 1.6 km (1 mi) to the north from which light oil was recovered. The top of the cored interval in Dunsborough-2 is 2 m (6.6 ft) below the top of the reservoir.

Dunsborough-2 is scheduled to reach the TD of 1,680 m (5,512 ft).

Participating interests in the WA-286-P are Roc Oil (operator), 37.5%; ARC Energy (Offshore PB) Ltd., 30.0%; AWE Oil (Western Australia) Pty Ltd., 27.5%; and CIECO Exploration and Production (Australia) Pty Ltd., 5.0%.
