KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Petronas reports two major oil and gas discoveries offshore Sarawak. Wells NC3 and Spaoh-1 in blocks SK316 and SK306 both are successful.
NC3 and a subsequent appraisal well in block SK316 have an estimated 2.6 tcf of net gas in place. The wells were drilled to about 4,000 m (13,123 ft) below sea level.
Spaoh-1 was drilled to 3,000 m (9,842 ft) in block SK306 and has found an estimated 100 MMbbl of oil and 200 bcf of natural gas. Production testing is on the schedule.
Petronas says it and its production sharing contractors plan to drill more than 50 exploration wells offshore Malaysia over the next three years.
