DUBAI, UAE -- Greatship Global Energy Services has contracted Lamprell to build a new LeTourneau Super 116E Class jackup
The self-elevating rig is designed to operate in water depths of up to 350 ft (106 m) and will have a rated drilling depth of 30,000 ft (9,144 m).
Lamprell will fabricate the rig in its new yard in Hamriyah, Sharjah. The project should be completed in late 2012.
CEO Nigel McCue said this latest award “further demonstrates the strengthening market for new build jackup rigs”.
