Standard orders four more jackups from Keppel FELS

Standard Drilling PLC has ordered four new jackup drilling rigs from Keppel FELS at a combined cost of $772 million.

OSLO, Norway – Standard Drilling PLC has ordered four new jackup drilling rigs from Keppel FELS at a combined cost of $772 million. The rigs are KFELS B Class and delivery is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2012 and run through the first half of 2014.

KFELS B rigs have automated rack and pinion elevation system, self-positioning fixation system, and the capability to drill to 30,000 ft (9,144 m) in 400 ft (123 m) water depth.

"In a span of less than six months, we have secured new orders for 19 KFELS B Class series rigs, including these latest contracts,” says Wong Kok Seng, managing director, Keppel FELS. “In ordering four repeat rigs at once, Standard Drilling has demonstrated its industry foresight, as well as reaffirmed the market's confidence in our proprietary design and quality execution."
