SYDNEY, Australia – Buccaneer Energy Ltd. is closing in on permission to drill offshore southern Alaska.

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation has issued air quality permits for four locations, two in the Southern Cross Unit and two in the North West Cook Inlet Unit.

Air modeling at each location was required to assess the impact of emissions from the drilling rig and support vessels on the environment. That was followed by conclusion of the mandatory public comment period.
