HAMILTON, Bermuda – North Atlantic Drilling Ltd. has been awarded a two-well drilling contract for the semisubmersible West Alpha. The $100-million contract is for operations on the Norwegian continental shelf at Balder field.
Drilling is scheduled to begin in 3Q 2012 with an estimated 210 days duration. The unnamed operator has an extension provision for as many as four added wells.
Seadrill Ltd. holds 75% interest in North Atlantic Drilling.
