OSLO, Norway -- E.ON Ruhrgas Norge has received clearance from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate for wildcat drilling in the North Sea.

The semisub Borgland Dolphin will drill well 31/8-1, 15 km (9.3 mi) southwest of the Troll field. This will be the first well on license PL 416 following its award in early 2007.

The program will start after the rig has finished drilling a development well for BP’s Skarv project in the Norwegian Sea.
