Troll, Norne area wells approved

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved use of the semisubmersible rig Transocean Leader for production drilling on Statoil’s Troll Oil project in the Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved use of the semisubmersible rig Transocean Leader for production drilling on Statoil’s Troll Oil project in the Norwegian North Sea.

The consent applies to drilling, completion, workover, and P&A of three wells in block 31/2, in production licenses 054 and 085.

This program is related to preparations for production from Troll B/C.

Activities should start next month and continue through Aug. 1, 2012.

In the Norwegian Sea, Total has authorization from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill and exploration well 8 km (4.9 mi) west of the Statoil-operated Norne field.

The Songa Dee will drill well 6607/12-2 S in production license 127, which was awarded under Norway’s 10 B licensing round. Total and Statoil are 50-50 partners in the well.
