SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Eni has discovered gas in the Jankgrik Northeast structure off East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The well was drilled in the Muara Bakau block in the Kutei basin, 15 km (9.3 mi) from the Jangkrik field.

Jangkrik North East NFW was drilled in 460 m (1,509 ft) water depth, 70 km (43 mi) offshore, and to a subsurface depth of 3,633 m (11,919 ft). It encountered over 60 m (197 ft) of net gas pay in high quality reservoir sands of Pliocene and Miocene age.

During the production test, it flowed high quality gas at a tubing constrained rate of 30.6 MMscfd.

Eni operates the Muara Bakau PSC with a 55% interest, the remainder held by GDF Suez.
