SALISBURY, UKRockhopper Exploration has secured an additional well slot for its program in the offshore North Falkland basin, using the semisub Ocean Guardian.

The company plans to use this slot to drill a well on the north western acreage of license PL004, which it believes contains an extension to its Sea Lion oil discovery.

Rockhopper has farmed in to the license as operator (subject to regulatory consents) with a 60% interest, the remainder retained by Desire Petroleum.

The well will be drilled in Area 1 of the proposed farm-in area, which will be re-designated license PL004b.
