SALISBURY, UK – The semisub Ocean Guardian has spudded Rockhopper Exploration’s latest well in the offshore North Falkland basin.

Well 14/10-9, in license PL032, is the eighth well to be drilled on the Sea Lion feature. The location is 5.9 km (3.7 mi) southwest of the Sea Lion 14/10-2 discovery well.

The well has two objectives: to investigate reservoir presence and hydrocarbon charge within the Sea Lion Main Complex toward the southern edge of Rockhopper’s acreage, and to serve as an exploration well on the eastern side of the Casper prospect.

Drilling operations should last 33 days.
