Det norske cleared for North Sea well

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized Det norske oljeselskap to drill a wildcat in the central Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized Det norske oljeselskap to drill a wildcat in the central Norwegian North Sea.

The semisub Songa Delta will drill well 25/6-4 S in license PL 414, after completing its five-year classification at the Coast Center Base (CCB) at Ågotnes outside Bergen.

This license, awarded in 2007, comprises parts of blocks 25/3, 5 and 6. Det norske’s well will be drilled at a location 20 km (12.4 mi) southeast of the Frøy field and 37 km (23 mi) northeast of the Heimdal field.
