Dragon targeting 13 wells this year in Turkmen sector

Dragon Oil has completed the Dzheitune (Lam) B/159 development well in the Cheleken Contract Area of the eastern Caspian Sea.

ASHGABAT, TurkmenistanDragon Oil has completed the Dzheitune (Lam) B/159 development well in the Cheleken Contract Area of the eastern Caspian Sea.

The jackup Iran Khazar drilled the well to a depth of 2,900 m (9,514 ft) and completed it as a single producer. On test the well flowed 2,223 b/d of oil.

Now that eight wells have been completed on the Dzheitune (Lam) B platform, the rig has mobilized to the Dzheitune (Lam) A platform.

Next on the line-up are the Dzheitune (Lam) A/162 development well and a workover of the Dzheitune (Lam) A/127 well.

The NIS rig and Rig 40 are currently drilling the Dzheitune (Lam) 28/161 and 13/160 wells, respectively, both of which should enter production in the next few weeks.

CEO Dr. Abdul Jaleel Al Khalifa said: "We anticipate being able to complete five more wells before the year-end given the recent addition of jackup slots on the Dzheitune (Lam) A platform and availability of theIran Khazar rig. That will give us a total of 13 new development wells within the 2011 drilling program."
