Songa drilling rigs move to new assignments
Offshore staff
LIMASSOL, Cyprus – Two rigs owned by Songa Offshore are under assignment to Petronas offshore Malaysia.
The start of the Songa Venus program has been delayed due to problems with newly-installed components on the BOP. However, the failed parts have been repaired and the company expects the rig to resume operations this week.
Songa Mercur recently demobilized from a job for Gazflot LLC off Sakhalin, eastern Russia. The rig should start its 90-day program off Malaysia later this month.
Among the rest of the company’s fleet, Songa Delta departed the Alve field in the Norwegian Sea late last month for a planned Special Periodic Survey period at the CCB base outside Bergen, Norway. It should remain there until around Dec. 10.
Thereafter it will re-commence its contract with Wintershall/Det Norske Oljeselskap.
Songa Eclipse completed contractual upgrades and client operational preparedness work and mobilized to Angola on Oct. 15.
