STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Lundin Petroleum has spud its latest well in the Greater Luno Area of the Norwegian North Sea, targeting the Tellus prospect.

The semisubmersible Bredford Dolphin is drilling well 16/1-15 to test Jurassic/Triassic-age sandstones and conglomerates in a fault segment north of the Luno field. Planned TD is 2,500 m (8,202 ft) below sea level; drilling should take around 45 days.

Lundin assesses Tellus’ unrisked prospective resources at 40 MMboe. A discovery could be factored into the Luno development.

Tellus is in license PL338. Lundin’s partners are Wintershall Norge and RWE Dea Norge.
