STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Lundin Petroleum has completed an exploration well on the Norall prospect in the Norwegian North Sea as a dry hole.

Well 16/7-9 was drilled by the semisubmersible rig Transocean Winner in license PL409 in a water depth of 78 m (256 ft), 40 km (24.8 mi) southeast of the Sleipner field. The vertical well reached a TVD of around 2,665 m (8,743 ft) in the Triassic Smith Bank formation.

En route it proved the target reservoirs but encountered no hydrocarbons, and will be P&A’d.

Lundin operates the license, which was awarded in 2007, in partnership with Bayerngas Norge and Statoil Petroleum.
