Mauritania hunt switches to Gharabi

The Mærsk Deliverer has started drilling the Gharabi-1 exploration well offshore Mauritania, according to partner Roc Oil.

NOUAKCHOTT, Mauritania -- The Mærsk Deliverer has started drilling the Gharabi-1 exploration well offshore Mauritania, according to partner Roc Oil.

Gharabi-1 is in block C6, in 1,791 m (5,876 ft) of water, around 22 km (13.7 mi) southwest of the Cormoran-1 gas discovery announced yesterday by Dana Petroleum.

The planned TD of this latest well is around 4,880 m (16,010 ft). Partners in block C6 are PC Mauritania I Pty (operator), Tullow Petroleum (Mauritania) Pty, and Roc Oil (Mauritania).
