PERTH, Australia – Carnarvon Petroleum Ltd. has provided an update on the Outtrim East-1 well drilling operations, as advised by operator Quadrant Energy.
The 9-5/8-in. casing liner has been cemented in place, and the well has drilled down to the top of the expected coring point of about 1,250 m (4,101 ft), where coring operations have begun.
The well is in the final stage of obtaining 90 m (295 ft) of core across the Pyrenees and Murion members that will be used for a full evaluation of the reservoir properties. The core will be transferred to laboratories for analysis.
Drilling will recommence and the final section of the hole will be drilled to a TD of around 1,440 m (4,724 ft). Following this brief final drilling operation, a wireline logging program will commence. The program is expected to include the use of the Saturn Probe for formation pressure testing and fluid sampling.
This has all taken place since last week, when Carnarvon Petroleum reported that the well was currently rigging up to run the 9-5/8-in. casing liner at a TD of 1,011 m (3,316 ft) after successfully drilling through a challenging shallow-hole section that caused a 10-day delay.
The Outtrim East-1 well is located within the WA-155-P(1) exploration permit in the North West Shelf ofAustralia. The equity interest holders are: Carnarvon Petroleum (28.5%) and Quadrant Energy (71.5%).
