HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count declined over the past week, falling by one to 21 according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Oct. 28, 2016. That number is down by 11 year-over-year.
The overall US offshore drilling rig count was also down by one, from 23 to 22, reflecting the decrease in theGoM. The higher rig count is due to an additional rig offshore Alaska. The overall US offshore rig count is also down by 11 year-over-year.
The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by four week-over-week at 557, with oil rigs down by two to 441, gas rigs up by six to 114, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at two.
Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is down by 218 rigs, with oil rigs down by 137, gas rigs down by 83, and miscellaneous rigs up by two.
