NORTH SYDNEY, Australia – AWE has issued a progress report on the Santos-operated AAL-4X appraisal well on the Northwest Natuna PSC in the Natuna Sea offshore Indonesia.

Due to a mechanical obstruction in the wellbore the jackupRaniworo cannot complete the proposed drillstem tests (DSTs) in the K-sand and G-sand reservoirs in the current hole.

The partners now plan to start side track operations to allow completion of the project scope and fulfil the DSTs.

Prior to the obstruction, the well had achieved all other objectives, intersecting oil-bearing sands.

In addition, around 63 m (206 ft) of full core has been recovered across the two reservoirs.

The data will assist development planning of the K-sand reservoir and assessing the development potential of the G-sand reservoir, thought to contain 289 MMbbl recoverable.
