PSA sanctions use of second rig at North Sea Ivar Aasen

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved the use of the jackup Maersk Interceptor to drill production wells at the Ivar Aasen field in the North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved the use of the jackup Maersk Interceptor to drill production wells at the Ivar Aasen field in the North Sea.

Water depth in the area is around 110 m (361 ft).

OperatorDet norske oljeselskap has developed the field with a steel jacket production/drilling/quarters platform.

Another rig drilled the previous wells: provisionally,Maersk Interceptor will drill three wells starting in late November and likely continuing into July 2017.

Keppel Shipyard in Singapore delivered the jackup in 2014.
