North Sea Stella well productive in underlying reservoir
The ENSCO 100 has completed the fifth and final development well on the Stella field development in the UK central North Sea.
CALGARY, Canada – The ENSCO 100 has completed the fifth and final development well on the Stella field development in the UK central North Sea.
According to operator Ithaca Energy, well 30/6a-A3Y (A3) flowed more than 8,000 boe/d.
It was drilled to a total MD subsea of 14,267 ft (4,348 m), with a 2,137-ft (651-m) horizontal reservoir section completed in the Ekofisk chalk reservoir, underlying the primary Stella Andrew sandstone formation.
The Ekofisk well intersected a net reservoir interval of 2,073 ft (632 m), equivalent to 97% net pay.
Following a clean-up period, a series of production flow tests were conducted on the well over five days to obtain additional data and fluid samples for future reservoir management.
Currently, A3 well is being suspended. As with the previous Stella development wells, the suspension configuration allows the well to be brought into production without further intervention activity once theFPF-1 semisubmersible floating production platform is on location and hooked up.
In total, the five wells delivered a combined maximum clean-up flow test rate of more than 53,000 boe/d, well above the initial annual production forecast for theGreater Stella Area hub of around 30,000 boe/d.
