Archer conducts P&A operations on Heimdal platform

HAMILTON, Bermuda –Archer has commenced operations to permanently P&A (PP&A) 12 gas wells on Statoil’s Heimdal platform in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The company is deploying its Archer Topaz MDR for the campaign.

TheArcher Topaz MDR follows the design of Archer’s first modular rig, the Archer Emerald. Operating in line with current NORSOK regulations, the company’s MDR fleet can be rigged up on most offshore installations and perform the majority of drilling operations typically carried out from a platform, including completion and P&A, according to Archer.

The flexibility of theArcher Topaz made it well-suited for deployment on the Heimdal field center where, in addition to the ongoing PP&A activity, installation upgrades are under way to keep the field operations as a gas processing and distribution hub until 2030, the company added.
