LONDON — Dixtone’s jackup Banba has started drilling an appraisal well for Perenco Oil & Gas Gabon (POGG) close to the company’s Hylia South West discovery.

The December 2022 discovery well HYSM-1 encountered a 40-m net oil-bearing column in the Ntchengue Ocean (NTO) reservoir, and a further column in the Madiela reservoir.

The appraisal well is targeting NTO and the deeper Madiela carbonate reservoir. One of the aims is to narrow down the estimated oil in place, currently 20 MMbbl to 100 MMbbl-plus, according to POGG general manager Adrien Broche.

The Hylia South West Field is at present producing 6,000 bbl/d from the HYSM-01 well, following startup last October.
