LONDON  Impact Oil & Gas has issued an update on the TotalEnergies-led appraisal and exploration drilling program offshore Namibia.

In Block 2913B (PEL 56), the drillship Deepsea Mira reentered and side-tracked the Venus-1X discovery well from early 2022, with the DST flowing oil with positive results.

The partners are interpreting the findings from the flow test and incorporating them into development studies, which they expect to confirm following a flow test in the fourth quarter on the Venus-1A appraisal well.

The drillship Tungsten Explorer drilled, cored and logged Venus-1A to a TD of 6,146 m, 13 km north of the Venus discovery well. Deepsea Mira will reenter Venus-1A shortly to conduct the DST.

Tungsten Explorer will now drill the Mangetti-1X exploration well in the northern part of Block 2913B.

Impact, via its subsidiary Impact Oil and Gas Namibia, has a 20% interest in Block 2913B, with partners QatarEnergy and NAMCOR.

In Block 2912 (PEL 91), Tungsten Explorer recently drilled the Nara-1X exploration well to a TD of 6,181m, with a full wireline logging program completed and a core retrieved. The well was not successful and the joint venture, comprising the same partners as in Block 2913B, is assessing the results.

Impact CEO Siraj Ahmed said, “The operator continues to progress with an exciting exploration and appraisal program. We look forward to the results ahead of us, which we expect to de-risk similar prospects in the southern part of the blocks.”
