LONDON — TotalEnergies’ Benriach exploration well west of Shetland has discovered what appears to be sub-commercial gas resources, according to partner Kistos.

The well, drilled by the semisub Transocean Barents, encountered gas-bearing sands in the targeted Royal Sovereign Formation in license P.2411, reaching a total measured depth of ~4,400 m.

TotalEnergies will now analyze the acquired data.
