SOUTHBANK, Australia  The Noble Developer semisubmersible has drilled the second of two new wells on the Patola Field in the BM-S40 license offshore Brazil for operator Karoon Energy.

PAT-2 reached total depth of 2,313 m, encountering good-quality Oligocene turbidite sandstones close to the prognosed depth. Wireline log analysis indicates net pay thickness in line with pre-drill expectations, with reservoir quality similar to the adjacent Baúna and Piracaba fields.

Remaining activities for the Patola development include completion of both wells, installation of a subsea pipeline and umbilicals to the FPSO Cidade de Itajaí as well as tying the wells into existing riser slots on the vessel.

Completion of FPSO pipework to tie the wells into the main production stream will then be undertaken before the new facilities are commissioned.

Karoon aims to start production from Patola in first-quarter 2023, with a peak of more than 10,000 bbl/d of oil before natural decline sets in.

Following the Patola completion activities, it is planned that the Noble Developer drilling rig will move to the Neon Field to drill the first of potentially two Neon control wells, subject to the receipt of regulatory approvals.
