SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Aker BP has contracted Saipem’s semisubmersible Scarabeo 8 for a drilling campaign offshore Norway.

Operations should start towards around the end of this year, following completion of the rig’s current duties.

Estimated value of the three-year contract is around $325 million, with options for two one-year extensions and potential upsides including a performance bonus scheme.

Saipem previously worked with Aker BP in 2018.
