HOUSTON – The semisubmersible Maersk Developer has P&A’d the Keskesi South-1 appraisal well on block 58 offshore Suriname for operator TotalEnergies and partner APA Corp.

According to APA, the well, situated 6.2 km (3.85 mi) from the Keskesi East-1 discovery, delivered non-commercial quantities of hydrocarbons and has since been P&A’d.

Senior vice president exploration Tracey Henderson said the latest well was a substantial step-out designed to assess the southern extent of the structure.

“This location had the potential to confirm a very large resource in place if connected to the reservoir sands in the discovery well. However, suitable reservoir quality sands were not developed in the Campanian target…

“Data gathered from the well will be used to calibrate our geologic model and inform the next steps for Keskesi appraisal.”

The Maersk Developer will shortly perform a flow test on the successful Sapakara South-1 appraisal well, after which exploration will continue with another well targeting the Krabdagoe prospect, east of Keskesi.

Currently the drillship Maersk Valiant is drilling Bonboni, the first exploration in the northern part of block 58.
